Barend Peters has worked as a ship’s master for thirty years, trading independently as Peters Marine Consultancy. He sails worldwide on assignments as delivery captain, client representative, or superintendent.

The rest of the year he’s based in the Netherlands, where he also offers one-on-one nautical training to private boat owners across the NL/BE market.

The Sea, Second Nature

For Barend, the sea has been second nature since he first went as a young man. Thirty years as master have not changed the basics of the work: get the vessel where she needs to go, sail her safely, hand her over in good order.

What’s changed is the range. From short European deliveries to full ocean crossings, from single voyages to long new-build supervisions. What hasn’t changed is the reason he keeps going back.
